The old stone jail in Bandera, TX photograph I originally made with a J Lane 4x5 glass dry plate on my Chamonix 45F2 large format camera and my Wolensak Velostigmat 6" lens (wide open) on an afternoon. I then contact print the glass plate onto Ilford MGRC paper. The glass of the plate itself produces a nice well defined sort of inner frame.
Being from a hand coated glass plate, compared to modern film, there are some variances and marks and things on the original negative. This produces part of the charm and vintage look. Because of this and the hand made nature of the prints themselves, each print is thus unique.
I make the prints as they are ordered in my darkroom and subsequently tone them in selenium to help improve the maximum blackness and remove the green cast plus add a bit to the archival integrity of the print.
